Old World’s own (Gertrude) affectionately known as Trudy intorduces new beau!

Perhaps you have seen them around Old World. Well if you haven’t you will be

pleasantly surprised to learn that, Old World’s very own Gertrude ‘Trudy” has

been photographed with her new beau “Herr Drosselmeyer”.

Trudy and Herr Drosselmeyer met last December at the Orange County

Perfroming Arts. Well one thing has led to another and they are now officially

girlfriend-boyfriend.

Herr Drosselmeyer is a Captain in the German Army. You may remember his

military exploits last Christmas season when he led his troops to the over-throw

of the dreaded Mouse King.

Trudy has indicated she is very happy with her new romance. However she worries about Herr Drosselmeyer’s many

military missions over the Holiday season.

Herr Drosselmeyer has indicated he is very honored to have won the affections of the beautiful Trudy.

We too are very honored to have as our friend the beautiful Trudy.

Whenever you visit the Old World Deli you just may see Herr Drosselmeyer hanging around waiting for Trudy to get

off of work.

OWFV care packages reach Kandahar, Afghanistan

The OWFV annual charity of providing Care Packages for our U.S.

Military overseas has successfully reached it’s destination.

Thanks, in large part, to our own Dustan ‘Mindleheim Madame’

Harmon, Lt. Col Henry Close received and distributed our goods to

his fellow brethren in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

We are elated we received a message back. And here it is:

Today we gratefully received a lightly abused package full of hygiene and nutritional items for the welfare of our Airmen. Shont Arbeit, meine Freunder. Enjoy the photo of Ch Maj Shin and myself before Soviet-era remainders.

A typical Sunday on the pitch for the OWFV team as the energy level was high (ok, there are a few guys walking in the background, but they were running a few pics earlier!) as everyone works up a healthy thirst and meets later at the Old World Clubhouse to hoist a pint. The annual British and Dominion Club rivalry weekend soccer games featuring the US vs Ireland and England vs Scotland was held on January 1st.

Playing for the US squad; Jurgen Klinsman (the US National Team Coach) came by to show of his tremendous skills.

Close to 100 people attend the 2011 OWFV Christmas Party

The 7th annual OWFV Christmas Party was held last night at Old World

Julio, Luis, Mark and Gary enjoy the night of festivities at the annual OWFV Christmas Party and Awards banquet.

With close to 100 people in attendance the racous affair saw Jerry Cannon running away with the coveted OWFV Spirit award.

Jerry led the mighty footballers to a 4 – 0 -1, season record.

With his exampleary play, field leadership and determination never to lose a battle for the loose ball it was a near unamious choice of the OWFV players for the Mighty Cannon!

Other award winners were Mike Uribe for Most Goals, Joe Greitl and the 3 time winner Luis De La Rosa tieing for the Best Goal of the year and Sean Paryavi walking away with the Dodo Strudel Award.

With membership and attendance increasing for the Annual OWFV Gala the Old World Restaurant will be hard pressed to hold all the attendees for next year’s event.

: Here are the Brave 14 to show up and play

On a cold and rainy soccer Sunday at Talbert Middle school, this November 6th, did the hearty 14 players show up.

Conspicous in their absences are “the too numerous to name” No Shows.

The “Sweet 14″ were rewarded with a very competitive scrimmage with the Burgundinos eeking out a 10 – 9 victory over the Blancos.

According to weather forecasts it is scheduled to rain again this Sunday.

Let us see what hearty OWFV players show this time to Add to the Sweet 14!

The Moose have arrived and Old World Oktoberfest ends….

: Greg Wallace’s Moose have come home after Oktoberfest

The 2011 Oktoberfest at Old World will be ending this weekend. The Burgermeister will officially close the proceedings by drinking the final shot and kissing the last remaining shot girl. (At which point Gina will take the Burgermeister back to his pasture)

As you can see by the photo taken from Greg Wallace’s back yard his Moose have returned home to Wyoming after a month long celebration at Herr Bischof’s extravaganzza.

Until next year we bid you all adieu….And now let’s get back to just normal drinking on Soccer Sundays.

Thanks for the memories….Bernie, Barbara, Cyndie, Joe, the entire staff (the Herbmeister) and especially Jason and his security detail (Jeff, Mark, Dave..etc..)…keeping us out of harm’s way.
